Coconut Wax Candle Care

The Best Way To Care For Coconut Wax Candles

Coconut wax candles are different than soy candles. Not only is coconut wax more creamy and luxurious, it holds more fragrance, and it melts at a lower temperature than soy wax. Which all means a full, even melt pool and more fragrance throw when burning your Sorelle candle.

But that also comes with some special attention to your candle. In order to get THE BEST candle burning experience: clean, optimal burns and long lasting candles, you need to trim your wicks most, if not all of the time.

If you don't trim your wicks (which we will explain how easy this is later), you are going to get larger flames, a very hot jar (often midway down) and too much soot with carbon buildup or mushrooming as your candle burns.

Even though we test and try to make candles that "self trim," candles sometimes do what they want. They are little chemistry experiments, after all.

Your wicks need to be about 1/8" to 1/4" inch each burn. We personally like shorter wicks the further down the candle is burned because that is when the melt pool is deeper and there is a risk for a hotter jar.

At the very least all we ask is that you pinch the carbon mushroom off of your wick each burn with some tissue paper. I personally use scissors and then wipe them off.

It really is that easy to get clean burns.

When your order arrives with a "candle-care card," make sure you read that for more information on coconut wax candles.
